What's New?
2005 Contests
The contests this year will be comprised of a Poster Contest and a Bumper
Sticker Contest. The theme this year is "Celebrate Conservation”.
Conservation is the careful use and management of our natural resources in a
way that protects both the environmental health and access to those resources
for future generations. New jersey is rich in natural resources that we can use
and enjoy. What are the resources in your area that you can help conserve?
Teachers: The rules and entry forms fliers will be sent to the schools soon, so check your mailboxes!
Request a copy of the official rules and entry form by contacting Craig Fisher.
2004 New Jersey Envirothon
Congratulations to Hopewell Valley High School!
The Envirothon was held on May 8, 2004 at the School of Conservation, a college of Montclair State University in Sussex County. After a brief welcome and introduction to the competition, testing began at 9:00am as teams of students pitted their knowledge in soils, wildlife, aquatics, current issues, forestry and a special topic against the other teams. There was a great turnout as a total of 36 teams took part in the competition. The team with the highest overall score receives a full paid trip to the National Canon Envirothon, the competition held at the national level, as well as other awards.
The National
Envirothon was also a success for this team as they placed 3rd overall!!!
Next year the NJ Envirothon is scheduled to be held by the Somerset County Soil Conservation District. Make sure you get information to register a team for next year by contacting either the education coordinator at the Camden County Soil Conservation District or Rich Belcher at the State Soil Conservation Committee.
